Abstract

Objective To investigate the effect of valvular disease on plasma brain natriuretic peptide level and recurrence of atrial fibrillation in patients with atrial fibrillation and its clinical significance. Methods From July 2013 to August 2015, 70 cases of atrial fibrillation were selected according to whether combined with valve disease. They were divided into observation group (combined valvular disease group, n=20) and control group (no valvular disease, n=50). The plasma brain natriuretic peptide (BNP) concentrations in both groups were measured by ELISA, and the BNP concentrations and the recurrence of atrial fibrillation were observed and analyzed. Results In the observation group, the atrial diameter was (47.9±10.5) mm, plasma BNP concentration of AF episodes was (631.7±553.9 pg/ml), which were significantly higher than those of the control group [(38.9±7.6) mm, (319.5±387.6) pg/ml], the differences were significant (P<0.05); the AF recurrence rate (60.00%) in the observation group was significantly higher than that of control group (34.00%), the difference was significant (P<0.05). Conclusions The plasma BNP level of atrial fibrillation combined with valvular disease patients increased significantly and patients have higher recurrent atrial fibrillation risk, so the plasma BNP concentration changes should be used as the recurrence of atrial fibrillation risk evalution index, and provide guidance for clinical treatment.
