Abstract
In the present study 7075-2 vol% Grp composites, have been synthesized by stir casting technique. Ultrasonic Treatment (UT) has been given in the composite melt to overcome the issues related to the ex-situ particle reinforced composites. The microstructural analysis has revealed uniform distribution of Grp particles and a reduction of porosity in the matrix. In addition to that large extents of particle and grain size reduction have been observed. Moreover, the aspect ratio of reinforced particles increased from 4.3 to 8.5 after UT. The analysis of mechanical properties of composite with UT shows improvement in hardness and tensile strength. To understand the effect of reinforced Grp particles, strengthening calculation has been done for untreated and treated composite.
