Abstract

A field trial was planned to compare the effects of three types of feed on milk yield and milk composition.4 Pure oats pasture, mixed pasture, and dry feeding5 were compared. The solids-not-fat content of milk produced from pure oats pasture was slightly better than milk produced from other diets. Pure oats at the stage of growth used in this trial did not depress milk fat. Although significant, differences in milk composition resulting from changing the type of feed fed to cows were relatively small.
