Abstract

Abstract Fertilization of eggs of Chinook salmon (Oncorhynchus tshawytscha) from Lake Oahe, South Dakota, in a solution of buffered saline or buffered saline plus theophylline failed to increase the percentage that developed to the eyed stage or into swim-up fry. The data indicate that egg quality, and not sperm viability, is likely the reason for poor reproductive success.
