Abstract

The T-stress near the tips of a cruciform crack with unequal arms in the two-dimensional (2D) decagonal piezoelectric quasicrystals (PQCs) is analyzed. The related boundary value problem can transform into a solvable system of integral equation by using integral transformation technique. On the basis of stress difference method, T -stress in the 2D decagonal PQCs of phonon field and phason field can express as the sum of an integral involving crack opening displacements (CODs) and tensile load at infinity. CODs play an extremely important role in the decision T -stress of phonon field and phason field. The role of the T -stresses in brittle fracture for 2D decagonal PQCs is emphasized. Moreover, the effects of the value of the crack arm length ratio b/a and the CODs on the T -stresses of a cruciform crack are studied.
