Abstract

The inductance of the duplex stainless steel, which is used as the steam generator pipe material (S/G pipe) changes with more thermal fatigue. From this phenomena, we know that the materials have a little magnetism. We apply a non-destructive method with a Barkhausen noise (BN) to these materials as the detection of the fatigue[1]. The effect of thermal fatigue of the duplex stainless steels on the Barkhausen noise is investigated by a magnetic sensor. The power (rms voltage), the crossing rate are investigated in this paper. The crossing rate means the value of pulses over the set voltage. As a result of this paper, it is found that the duplex stainless steel material has a little magnetism and that the values of the power (mV) and the counting pulses is changed as the aging time is increased.
