Abstract

The effect of preliminary ultrasound action on the mechanical properties and features of the structure of zirconium-based bulk metallic glasses has been studied by the method of acoustic emission under uniaxial compression. Results of studies have been interpreted using the polycluster model of the structure of amorphous metallic alloys. Analysis of the obtained data has allowed us to substantiate the mechanism of the change in the structure and strength of metallic glasses as a result of alternating-sign mechanical loading with an ultrasound frequency of 20 kHz.
