Abstract

1. The rates of polycondensation of glycine methyl, ethyl, isopropyl, n-propyl, and n-butyl esters were investigated and it was shown that this rate fell in the same order as the list of alkoxyl residues. 2. Glycine methyl ester occupied a special position among the other esters studied both with respect to the polycondensation rate of the ester and the diketopiperazine yield.
