Abstract

The influence of the density of the material of nanoparticles dispersed in a low-density polyethylene (LDPE) matrix on the longitudinal elastic moduli and viscosity coefficients of the obtained nanocomposites has been experimentally studied. It is established that, as the density of the nanoparticle material increases, the longitudinal elastic moduli of the nanocomposite decrease, while their effective viscosity coefficients (characterizing the total losses) remain virtually unchanged. Thus, it is demonstrated that the acoustic impedance of LDPE-based nanocomposites can be effectively controlled using nanodimensional fillers of various density.
