Abstract

1. The degree of purification of an oil and the consumption of alkali depend on the intensity of the mixing. With a mixing intensity corresponding to Re ∼ 2720, an oil can be obtained with an acidity meeting the specifications, with a theoretical consumption of alkali. 2. The settling efficiency of the alkali deposits in an electrical field is four to ten times greater than with natural settling. 3. An increase in the intensity of the contacting between the oil and the alkali, in conjunction with settling of the alkali deposits in an electrical field, permits reducing the consumption of the reagent by approximately 20 to 30%.
