Abstract

The effect of inorganic salt on temperature dependent changes of the electrical conductivity of Nd and Nc lyotropic nematic mesophases consisting of disc like and rod like micelles has been investigated. It has been found from the temperature dependence of the electrical conductivity that the lyotropic and thermotropic phase transitions shifted to lower temperatures by addition of NH4Br. Addition of the salt stimulates the formation of oriented textures of Nd and Nc mesophases.
