Abstract

Differential Thermal Analysis (DTA) has been employed to investigate the glass transition activation energy Et , thermal stability and glass forming ability (GFA) of (Se80Te20)100-xGex (x = 0, 2, 4, 6) chalcogenide glasses. The DTA curves of the composition under investigation were recorded at the different heating rates. From the dependence of glass transition temperature on heating rate, the Et has been calculated on the basis of the Kissinger model. Thermal stability has been monitored through the calculation of temperature differences Tc-Tg and the stability parameter S. The GFA has been investigated on the basis of Hruby parameter Hr , which is a strong indicator of GFA.
