Abstract
A method is proposed for solving the problem of elastic tidal deformations of a homogeneous medium bounded by an arbitrary surface; the method is based on the expansion of solutions in powers of a parameter equal to the tangent of the slope angle of a surface element to the horizon. At small values of this parameter, the sequence of solutions rapidly converges to a finite limit.
