Abstract

Due to complex machining process on five-axis milling center, a complex surface usually has uneven quality distribution. To achieve high quality in a unified surface, a machine tool must has good dynamic behavior and possible defect surface also should be known in advance. In this paper, the dynamic stiffness of machining is discussed by studying the processing characteristics of a machine tool. The effect of the dynamic stiffness on surface quality is evaluated using the force-excited model. The relationship between the parameters of vibration and surface quality is established to analyze the influence. In the results, a complex surface S shaped part is evaluated as an example. A method for measuring surface quality, including roughness and waviness, is also considered in this paper.
