Abstract

We analyze the role of the counter-rotating ternis in the Jaynes-Cummings model with cavity losses [1–3]. In particular, in the case of strong cavity damping we study time evolutions of the atomic population inversion, dipole moment, and atomic and field squeezing parameters for an initial coherent field. We report that in the framework of the present model new steady-state states do appear under the influence of the counter-rotating ternis (CRT). Finally, by applying a modified Robertson projection-operator method [4], in the Born approximation (which, as pointed out in [5] for consistency reasons has always to include the Markov approximation) we derive an analytical formula describing these new steady states.
