Abstract
The significance of the counterrotating terms in the many-atom Jaynes–Cummings model with cavity damping is demonstrated. Numerical results for the time evolution of the atomic population inversion for various numbers of atoms and different cavity dampings in the case of spontaneous emission are presented. The appearance of new steady states under the influence of the counterrotating terms is pointed out.
