Abstract

Abstract Magnetic results for the U(Ge 1− y Sn y ) 2 and (Y 1− x U x )Ge 2 series of compounds are reported. The magnetization for U(Ge 1− y Sn y ) 2 shows a ferromagnetic (FM) state for y ⩽0.6 but above this concentration the compounds order antiferromagnetically. For (Y 1− x U x )Ge 2 , starting from the U side, the system is FM and below x =0.8 it exhibits a complex behavior: for x >0.4 a reentrant spin-glass phase is observed; for x =0.2 and x =0.3 we found a non-Fermi-liquid behavior and at x =0 it is a superconductor. A magnetic phase diagram is presented for both series.
