Abstract

The behavior of nitrogen is studied during steelmaking in a 120-t arc furnace using a solid metal charge. The nitrogen content in steel is shown to be decreased when the fraction of a light metal scrap in a charge increases and the fraction of a heavy metal scrap decreases.
