Abstract

Porphine and its complexes with Cu(II), Ni(II), and Zn(II) have been separated by adsorption and partition TLC. In adsorption TLC silica gel was used as stationary phase, with chloroform- n -hexane 5:5, 6:4, and 7:3 ( v/v ) as mobile phases. In partition TLC on RP-18, methanol, methanol-water 9:1 ( v/v ), ethanol, and ethanol-water 9:1 ( v/v ) were used as mobile phases. The objective of the study was determination of the effect of temperature (5 ± 2, 15 ± 2, 25 ± 2, 35 ± 2, 45 ± 2, and 55 ± 2°C) on the retention of the compounds by comparison of the chromatographic separations obtained.
