Abstract
Effect of temperature in the range - 30°C to + 100°C has been studied during different stages of processing of fission fragment tracks in soda glass detectors. Variation of temperature during exposure suggests that radiation damage in glasses consist mainly of atomic defects and not of electronic defects. The largest observable diameter is found to decrease with increase in the etching temperature. This may be due to increased effect of “etch product layer”. Our investigations show that soda glass detectors are equally useful at higher temperatures.
