Abstract

The bulk single crystals of Y123 are required to clarify the superconductivity phenomenon and to develop electronic devices using unique superconductive properties. Only the solute rich liquid crystal pulling method developed by Yamada et al. has succeeded in continuous growth of the Y123 single crystal. In this paper, we investigated the growth rate of Y123 single crystals under different temperature gradients in the solution in order to understand the growth mechanism of Y123. It was revealed that Y123 single crystals grow with a spiral growth mode, which is in good agreement with the BCF theory.
