Abstract

Ultra-strong medium entropy alloy (VCoNi) is designed via severe lattice distortion. Simulation calculation suggests the stacking fault energy of VCoNi can be reduced as increasing Ta contents, but keep the deformation twinnability almost unchanged. The experiment result suggests Ta addition can’t remarkably increase the deformation twinning propensity due to the chemical short-range order in VCoNi.
