Abstract

Diamond films were grown by chemical vapor transport, and their structure was studied by x-ray diffraction. The results demonstrate that the growth rate of diamond films reaches a maximum at certain vapor pressures and substrate temperatures. The mean size of mosaic blocks, lattice strain, and dislocation density as functions of substrate temperature also pass through a maximum. The variation of the growth rate with substrate temperature is correlated with that of the real-structure parameters.
