Abstract

The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of neck-shoulder stabilization exercise using swiss ball on theratainment of turtle neck syndrome with adult. Subjects were randomly assigned into two groups, a mat exercise group(n=8) and swiss ball exercise group(n=8). In order to ascertaining the effect of neck-shoulder exercise with swiss ball, VAS score, ROMs of neck and shoulder joint, grip strength, and rounded shoulder posture were measured. The results of this work as follows: The mat exercise group showed the significant differences of all measurements except the neck left rotation and neck left lateral flexion. The swiss ball exercise group showed the significant differences of all measurements except the shoulder internal rotation. In VAS score and neck extension, there were significant differences between the mat exercise group and swiss ball exercise group one. These results indicate that the neck-shoulder exercise with swiss ball was more effective than on mat to reducing a neck-shoulder pain and increasing stability and flexibility of neck and shoulder. Especially, the swiss ball exercise can be used for reducing neck-shoulder pain and because of minimizing about vertebral structure pressure improving the extension posture about axis of vertebral in optimal posture.
