Abstract

depressants in relation to biologic processes is as yet unexplained. Nevertheless, observed effects of variations in surface tension on bacteria and bacterial growth increase our knowledge, and the accumulation of such observations may ultimately reveal the mechanism of the action of surface tension on vital processes. Numerous papers have described the antiseptic properties of surface tension depressants and their influence on the efficiency of various antiseptics, but comparatively little work has been done with surface tension in relation to bacterial growth.
