Abstract

Directional effects in the energy distributions of fast ionized recoils ejected from copper under 30 keV energy argon ion bombardment were studied. As targets single crystal faces with different mutual arrangements of close-packed atomic rows and also a copper polycrystal were used. It was found that at aligned target orientation the energy distributions are much broader than for both random target orientation and for the polycrystalline target. It was also found that the energy distributions are affected by the mutual arrangement of close-packed atomic rows. The obtained results are discussed in terms of vibrating atomic rows.
