Abstract

Surface rolling extrusion processing is applied to reconstruct the microstructure of U–5.7Nb alloy. A micro–nano structure layer is formed on the surface, at the same time the inclusions in the surface are also refined and the uniformity of niobium element distribution is improved. The corrosion resistance test indicates that, the corrosion rate of the material is accelerated, but the stability of oxide film formed on the surface of U–5.7Nb alloy after rolling is better. The modified layer with uniform structure formed by rolling can eliminate the uneven potential distribution of turning, thereby improves the local corrosion resistance of U–5.7Nb alloy.
