Abstract

ABSTRACTAn electrically tunable photonic crystal is developed utilizing crystalline colloidal arrays of particles with low density and high optical contrast. Through modulation of the charge on the surface of particle, and the applied electric field, the peak position of the reflection changes with the increasing voltage. The possibility of using phenolic resin to realize the full color modulation was obtained, which paves a way to develop a novel reflective display with organic nanospheres.
