Abstract

The effect of the size of grains and magnetic domains on the damping capacity primarily determined by magnetomechanical damping is considered for iron alloys with the ferrite structure. The indeterminacy of the value of magnetomechanical damping in a single crystal and in large-grain polycrystals is considered. The effect of carbide, graphite, and ordered phases on the mechanical properties and damping capacity of ion alloys with predominantly ferritic structure and with other matrices is studied. The results of the study are generalized from the standpoint of structural mechanisms of internal friction.
