Abstract
The present work focuses on an experimental study for a prototype piezoelectric energy harvesting system. The aim of the experimental set-up is to convert the vibrations of motors into usable electrical energy. Experiments are carried out on 27 mm commercially available piezoelectric disc diaphragm and a cantilever shaped harvester, attached to a mini-vibration table having 70 cm2 surface area. The energy harvesting circuitry is made by Schottky diodes and a peak power response of 0.027 µW is obtained for the disc diaphragm while the cantilever-based system gives a peak power response of 1.4 µW.
