Abstract

The effect of a strong vertical magnetic field (≤13 T, 1300 T 2 m -1 ) on a salt-water oscillator composed of salt water and water was studied. The oscillation periods are 6.3 s (-1300 T 2 m -1 ) and 2.5 s (+1100 T 2 m -1 ), although it is 3.3 s in a zero field. These results are explained in terms of the magnetic force acting on the salt water and water interface. In vertical magnetic fields, the solution oscillates under the effect of the earth's gravitational and magnetic forces, although it oscillates under the effect of the gravitational force in a zero field.
