Abstract
Self compacting concrete is a major innovative material in the construction field, has excellent functionalities which do not require any external loading to fill. Cement is the vital ingredient in the production of self compacting concrete (scc), major issue arises in the environment by the discharge of CO2 gas in the manufacturing of cement, in order to overcome this issue cementitious materials like fly ash, GGBS is used as partial substitutes to cement which not only reduce the demand for consumption of cement but also enhances the properties of concrete. Steel slag which is the waste product from steel industries could be used as a part substitute to sand. This paper reports on the workability and mechanical properties of self compacting concrete, made with fly ash and steel slag. Cement partially substituted with fly ash 5–20%, fine aggregates were partially replaced with steel slag by 10–40% with an interval of 10% for M30 grade mix. Several tests were accomplished on fresh and hardened state optimum value noted for both compression and tensile strength 40% dosage of steel slag.
