Abstract

A diet rich in low carbohydrates and monounsaturated fatty-acids has been suggested as a part of the treatment of patients with type 2 diabetes.1–4 We decided to use for such patients a diet with reduced starch content with an almost starch-free bread in which the energy deficit is compensated for by increased soya protein5 and fat. We substituted the bread only at breakfast.
