Abstract

Plant extracts of Aloe vera and Syzygium aromaticum (clove) inhibited the growth and sporulation of Fusarium oxysporum f.sp. lycopersici (FOL) both under laboratory and green-house conditions. However, essential oils also reduced the growth and spore population of FOL significantly. The best results were obtained when clove oil was applied; followed byMentha arvensis (mint) oil. Trichoderma harzianum and T. asperellum were the best tested Trichoderma spp. isolates in reducing the growth of FOL. Under green house and artificial soil infestation conditions, All the above-mentioned treatments reduced the wilt disease incidence and improved the growth of tomato plants; significantly.
