Abstract
Absorption and fluorescence spectra of 2-phenylbenzimidazole has indicated that the geometry of the molecule is the same in S 0 and S 1 electronic states. The fluorescence takes place from the L b electronic state. Excited-state equilibrium constants have been calculated for PBI + ⇌ PBI ⇌ PBI − equilibria.
