Abstract
ABSTRACT THE effect of various soil, implement and oper-ating parameters on the depth of penetration of a disc harrow was determined. The factors con-sidered were the diameter of the disc, gang angle of the harrow, weight of harrow per disc, speed of operation, cone index of soil and acceleration due to gravity. By using the technique of dimensional analysis total variables were reduced to one dependent and three independent variables. By conducting the ex-periments in the field the relations were developed be-tween different independent variables and one de-pendent variable i.e. depth factor. A composite depth variable factor involving all the three inde-pendent dimensionless terms was developed and a linear relation between the depth factor and com-posite depth variable factor was found.
