Abstract
This study aimed to investigate the effect of sintering temperature on microstructures and properties of AA6061 reinforced with SiC particles composites fabricated by Ultra high-pressure sintering. Results show that little agglomeration exists in AA6061 reinforced with SiC particles with the method of SiC particles coated by nano-aluminum powders. Al4C3 formed at the interface between AA6061Al and SiCp in the composite sintered above 600 °C. In the sintering temperature range of 450 ∼ 650 °C, the maximum relative density and highest hardness could reach 99.58% and 52 HRA, and the wear resistance is also the best for the AA6061 reinforced with SiC particles sintered at 600 °C.
