Abstract

Objective To study the effect of silibinin liver protecting capsule on rat model of liver injury induced by antituberculosis drugs. Methods 50 SD rats were randomly divided into 5 groups, 10 rats in each group, which were respectively: model control group, positive control group, silymarin liver protecting capsule high dose group, silymarin liver protecting capsule middle dose group, silymarin liver protecting capsule low dose group. The rat model of liver injury induced by antituberculosis drugs was established by drug combination (isoniazid 80 mg/kg, rifampicin 160 mg/kg, ethambutol 8 mg/kg, pyrazinamide 8 mg/kg) for 28 d, another 10 SD rats were selected as blank control group. After the establishment of the model, the animals of each group were given corresponding drugs, the blank control group and model control group were given equal volume of drinking water, the positive control group was given bicyclol 13.5 mg/kg. After 14 days of continuous administration, 10% chloral hydrate 3 ml/kg anesthetized animals were weighed at the end of the experiment. The abdominal aorta was taken for blood test, the liver function indexes were collected, the liver was weighed, and the liver indexes were calculated. Results Compared with the blank control group, the liver indexes of the rats in the model group decreased significantly, serum ALT and AST significantly increased, with statistically significant differences (P<0.01). Compared with the model group, the liver indexes of the rats in the positive control group, silymarin liver protecting capsule high and middle dose group increased significantly, serum ALT and AST significantly decreased, with statistically significant differences (P<0.05 orP<0.01). Conclusion Silymarin liver protecting capsule can effectively improve liver injury induced by antituberculosis drugs. Key words: Tuberculosis; Liver injury; Silymarin
