Abstract

Neodymium Iron Boron Composite was made by mixing of NdFeB magnetic powder (MQP B+) and a non-magnetic silicon rubber (SIR) in form liquid. The percentage of NdFeB powder was varried of 30%, 40 % and 50% wt. Both raw materials were mixed until homogeneous and poured into the mold and allowed to dry at room temperature. The formed samples were characterized which includes the measurement of mechanical properties (tensile strength and hardness), magnetic properties and micro structure (XRD analysis). The characterization results show that the highest value of ultimate tensile strength (UTS) was 1.99 MPa for sample with 50 % of NdFeB and the lowest value of UTS was 0,602 MPa for sample with 30 % of NdFeB. Shore hardness values tend to increase from 25 HA to 55 HA with increasing NdFeB particle composition. The magnetic measurement results show that the highest value of remanence and coercivity were achieved on the sample with 50% of NdFeB - 50 % SR with value respectivly 62.40 emu/g and 5,879 kOe. The XRD results show that sample with 50% of NdFeB has the highest peak at 2θ is 44.02 (deg) as Nd2Fe14B phases and the crystal size is about 8.55 nm.
