Abstract

In the present investigation, the tensile and sliding wear properties of silicon carbide filled with glass epoxy polymeric composites were studied. The composites were prepared by dispersing different weight percentage of micro silicon carbide fillers in epoxy matrix and the mixture is then laid up on glass woven fabric by hand layup technique. Specimens were prepared out of the cured laminates and tests were conducted to study their tensile and wear properties. The test matrix for wear tests is defined using Taguchi approach. Sliding wear resistance increased with increase in SiC filler percentage though there has been a marginal decrease in tensile properties.
