Abstract

As technology advances, there has been increasing interest in developing shale gas. Analysis and estimation of shale gas production behavior are necessary for shale gas development. In this paper, simulation of shale gas production was performed depending on reservoir properties (porosity and permeability of matrix and natural fracture) and condition of hydraulic fracture (half-length and spacing). The effect of reservoir properties and the condition of hydraulic fracture on production behavior of shale gas were examined. Decline curve analysis (DCA) factors, which represent production behavior of shale gas, were derived by matching process between DCA and simulation result. The variation of shale gas production behavior was understood by analyzing the variation of DCA factors. The qualitative relationship between influential parameters (reservoir properties and the condition of hydraulic fracture) and production behavior of shale gas was identified and the degree of influence by each parameter was analyzed.
