Abstract

Summary The aim of this research was to establish the effect of selected feed additives used in cocciodisis prophylaxis on production parameters and quality of meat and fat of chickens. The experiment was conducted on 480 Hubbard Flex chickens allocated to 3 feeding groups. The control group (C) received standard feed mixtures without additives. In turn, feed mixtures for experimental groups contained additionally a complementary feed mixture – adiCox ®AP (A) or a ionophore cocciodiostat – monoenzin (M). The birds were reared until 42 days of age. 24Â h after slaughter, breast and thigh muscles of the chickens were analysed for proximate chemical composition and technological properties (pH, water holding capacity, cooking loss). In order to determine oxidative changes, the TBARS index was assayed in abdominal fat.
