Abstract
A complete description of the activities of the Commission on Epidemiological Survey of the Board for the Investigation of Epidemic Diseases, Preventive Medicine Service, will be presented in the Surgeon General's History of World War II. It may be mentioned here that a general consultative service was provided, together with standardized coccidioidin and facilities for serologic tests and Coccidioides identification. In conjunction with the Army Air Forces, a detailed epidemiologic investigation was carried out in four army air fields in the San Joaquin Valley, California (fig. 1). These investigations began in July 1941 at Minter and Gardner fields in Kern County, in February 1942 at Merced Army Air Field in Merced County and in March 1942 at Lemoore Army Air Field in Kings County.
