Abstract

The competition between magnetism and superconductivity is being investigated for the recently discovered RNi 2B 2C superconductors with the magnetic rare-earth elements R. The effect of the superconducting coupling λ 1 and the anti-ferromagnetic coupling λ 2 on the superconducting gap and anti-ferromagnetic gap in rare-earth nickel borocarbides is presented in this paper. We have used the Zubarev’s double time Green’s function technique and equations of motion method to evaluate the superconducting gap and anti-ferromagnetic staggered field. It provides qualitative explanations to the experimental observations.
