Abstract

Our results demonstrate that measurement of whole-body retention of [99mTc]MDP is a useful diagnostic tool in selecting postmenopausal osteoporotic women with different rates of bone turnover. This biophysical index showed good correlations with the biochemical estimates of both bone formation and bone resorption, confirming its validity as an estimate of skeletal turnover.
