Abstract

Rapid sequence intubation is often performed with paralytic agents including succinylcholine and rocuronium. Several reviews have suggested that succinylcholine is the preferred agent, while other studies have suggested that rocuronium is just as effective at first attempt tracheal intubations. There are no clinical studies however, that compare the efficacy of these agents in an emergency setting for achieving first pass success rates.
