Abstract

The effect of ring liner on the expansion of investments is investigated. The wax patterns were prepared on a metal die. The wax patterns were invested as ring liner with and without pads (wet, greased). The metal crown patterns were obtained and adapted on the metal die. Photographs of the cervical regions of the castings were taken under light microscope. 0n these photographs, the marginal gaps were measured, and the effect of the ring liner on the expanion of the investment was evaluated according to these measurements. The marginal gap was found to be smaller in the casted metal crowns using wetted ring liner, and the expansion of the investment was more in this group than in the other groups.
