Abstract

Abstract The coercive field H c and remanence B r were investigated in as-quenched non-magnetostrictive Co 71.5 Fe 2.5 Mn 2 Mo 2 Si 9 B 14 and magnetostrictive Fe 78 Si 9 B 13 amorphous ribbons (up to 50 m long) of various thickness (12–35 μm) and width (2–18 mm). The lowest H c and highest B r were obtained for the non-magnetostrictive and magnetostrictive ribbons cast with maximal (the thinnest and widest ribbons) and minimal (the thickest and narrowest ribbons) quenching rate, respectively. The results are interpreted in terms of magnetoelastic- and induced magnetic anisotropy.
