Abstract

The models and the two wind tunnels used to investigate the effect of wind on containers being transported on stanchion wagons are described. The results of the drag, side force, and lift measurements carried out from 0° to 90° yaw and for Reynolds numbers ranging from 1/6th to full-scale are presented and discussed. Rolling moment, pitching moment and yawing moment characteristics are briefly discussed.
