Abstract

The AC penetration depth, λ′0, in a Bi-2223 multifilamentary tape wire was estimated from the slope of minor magnetization curve. It is found that λ′0 is comparable to the thickness of the filament and the hysteresis loss is reduced from the prediction of Kim model due to the effect of the reversible fluxoid motion at high temperatures. It is recommended to reduce the thickness of the filament below 2 μm for the reduction of hysteresis loss at 77 K.
